See what I mean? Unusual way of joining a wall to the celining, don't you think? When viewed from the context of Typhoon survival, it makes more sense. Upon further examination, I found that the roof is held firmly in place via large concrete columns. The walls are, essentially, hanging from the ceiling. An accordian joint at the top of the wall (not quite visible here) provided an environmental seal, even under the range of motion these wishbone joints allowed. This will help not only in Typhoons, but earthquakes as well - it's better for a structure to be somewhat flexible rather than rigid.
